Everybody has the right to make a decision in terms of what they would like to wear, eat or buy. Some people may think that they are absolutely free in making any decision regardless of the standards and norms adopted by their communities. Consequently, the question remains: Do people around us influence our decisions and choices?
Social researchers have revealed that our decisions and behaviors are often affected in one way or another by the opinion of the majority. This point of view proves something important; When a group of people looked up at the sky on a busy sidewalk, most of the passersby looked up at the sky because the latter thought that those people must know something special. Therefore, some of the companies are very interested in using social influence to manipulate and direct us to buy their products. In my point of view, the fact that people around us greatly influence our choices and decisions is a reality. For example, advertisers use experts to convince people to buy their goods. As a result, we may follow the experts’ advice. Moreover, when ordinary people buy a product, we listen to their opinions.
In conclusion, most people tend to change their choices, opinions, and decisions to follow the majority decision even if their decision is against their personal preferences. Thus, I am convinced that people like, doctors, experts, and friends influence our behaviors because we trust their expertise and recommendations.
